<p>Consider the context. Starting with verse 1 from 1 Corinthians 6 we see Paul is speaking about judging fairly between each other and having holy men judge for and between the brethren. (verses 3-5) He warns of doing as non-believers as they are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. (verses 9-11) This proceeds the verse you quoted. </p>

<p>Interestingly enough, all things are permissible for Christians BUT are they profitable for the will of God? For example, the following verse (verse 13) speaks of eating unclean food not allowed under the Law. (Leviticus 11) Again they are permissible yet are not beneficial. This is why Jesus says what He says in Matthew 15:11 & 17. </p>

<p>Essentially, Paul sums up the entire idea in the last verses of the chapter. To paraphrase, we are bought at a price and our bodies are a holy temple unto God. </p>
