Ephesians 6:14 - Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness; . . . 17 And take the helmet of salvation . . .
1 Thessalonians 5:8 - But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Both scriptures mention a breastplate and a helmet of salvation. However there is a breastplate of righteousness and there is a breastplate of faith and love. Could faith and love create righteousness? Can there be righteousness without faith and love?
1 Timothy 1:14 - And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
If faith and love are in Christ Jesus then righteousness is also in Christ Jesus as well.
1 Corinthians 1:30 - But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
So we have righteousness when we are in Christ Jesus. Therefore are focus is to be in Christ Jesus who gives us faith and love which is the foundation of righteousness.
Romans 4:3 - For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Believe in Jesus Christ and through grace he will give you righteousness rooted in faith and love.
1 Corinthians chapters 12-13-14 speak of the gifts given out by the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) as it pleases Him. The gifts and callings of YHWH God are without repentance which means once He gives you something, he does not take it away later. Some go astray but still retain their gift. Have you ever wondered why some preachers who are corrupt are so powerful and deliver such great sermons?
Solomon was by far the wisest man ever because when he asked for wisdom to lead the people of Israel, it pleased YHWH so much that he didn't ask for personal riches and gain, that he gave him both in great abundance. Later on, he drifted away from YHWH and began to live it up. He took to himself 700 lovers from the forbidden nations and even embraced their false religion enough to set up altars to their gods. Even after all of that, he say's:
Ecclesiastes 2:9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
Many can eventually get puffed up with their gift or gifts and go astray. Paul sums it all up in chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians when he say's Faith, Hope and Charity are the ultimate goal. All 3 are essential but then he puts LOVE at the very top of them all. The biblical verses speaking of Love are to numerous to list here but we know that YHWH God is LOVE and that Love is the greatest thing to aspire to and lay hold of in our lives. It is a daily pursuit and often a difficult one.
