Lessons from Job

I have been going through some very trying times lately, so I thought the best place to turn would be to our Heavenly Father. In 1Cor 10:13 we can rest assured that we wont be tried past what we can handle, and Yahaveh will ALWAYS have a way out for us. He will always help us through our storms.

Naturaully, I felt led to study the book of Job in more depth to learn how I could come through trying times, and how to have patience. Through guidance from the Holy Spirit, and from teachers (i.e. Bullinger) blessed by YHVH which help us to further understand God's Word, I have learned so much more from studying Job! I wanted to share some of what God has taught me.

This book teaches the oldest lesson in the world, "How should man be just with God?" This was taught in

In Luke 15 the prodigal son learned this from leaving his father and going hungry. Joseph's brothers learned this from a famine in Gen. 44:16. David was taught this by Nathan in 2 Sam. 12. As did the vision for Isaiah ch. 4 of the same book, and Daniel in ch. 10 of his book. Peter learned this in Luke 5 when he was doubting Yashua's Word that he would have a great catch of fish. God is patient and will take the time to "reteach" us lessons. This was the case with Peter when he treated God's children as being unclean, and also when he denied Christ after His inprisonment. Job learns this lesson as well in the end of his book.

In Jas 5:11 we learn that this lesson is the end of the Lord, and He will take pity on us, but we need to practice patience. God is the teacher of this Divine lesson, even though He often will use man to bring it about. Elihu sums everything up in one phrase when he is speaking with Job: "God is greater than man." When we acknowledge this, God's greatness, and our lowliness, we will be just with God. This effect must be produced by God, and not ourselves. Like Job from centuries prior, we must be under conviction, and know that Jesus, being perfect, is much greater than us, and we must humble ourselves and exalt He who sent Him, in order to gain favor in our Father's eyes.

Gen. 4:1-5 when Abel's offering was accepted unto God, and Cain's was rejected. The first time God speaks to man after the fall He asks, "Where art thou?" This is referring to the lost condition of man. This same question is the first of the New Testament in Mat. 2:2. However, it is asked of Jesus our Savior. When this question is answered we have learned the oldest lesson in the world. We can only learn this by coming to God with a contrite spirit and a humble heart. When we learn this lesson, we will have true wisdom.
