Holy Days

_____________ Col.2:16-17/ Rom.14:5-6_______

His people shall observe the set aside days (mo'eds) according to their biblical (Hebraic) roots. (Taking into account that there are differences in calendars among the nations.)

Notes: Enoch who was given Great wisdom by The Almighty showed regard for 3 of the worlds major calendars and documented each of them in his witness in Egypt (Enoch's pillar). I have heard countless claims about which calendar is right and or wrong yet the bible makes a point about how to use the heavens to observe seasons and times. God children are to be children of light

__________________ Gen.1:14-18 ______________

Solar- Days/ Years

Lunar- months/ moons (all prophacy having to do with lucifer has to do with months) / "Lucifer" means morning star Anti means instead of and we were told Christ is The Morning star

The *biblical calendar is both lunar and solar.

2 Cor.11:14 (Morning star- Is.14:12 anti/ Rev.22:16 true) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

(transformed is G#3345 and means DISGUISED)

The moon is disguised as a light yet in reality only reflects a portion of light from the sun during hours of darkness. Note: anti in the Greek means instead of.

I find importance in embracing the symbols (meanings, foreshadows and Fulfillments) within the Hebraic observances just as God's choosen have before us, our best example alsways being that of Messiah.

Is.58:13-14  If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. (Ps.46:18)

Sabbath meaning rest/ Matt.11:28-30, Heb.4:8-10,Ps.23, Ps.37, (Dan.9:24-25), (Jer.6:16), Is.63:14/ those who have a relationship with God by Grace through faith can partake of Spiritual rest everyday, and yet we know Yeshua the Christ observed Saturday as the 7th day sabbath like all other Jews. The seventh day of the week in Hebrew is called Shabbat (Sabbath). (plural Shabbats- Matt.28:1 KJVCB/ Leviticus 23:5-8/... high sabbaths)

( Hosea 2:11 comes before Lamentations in the proper order of Tanakh as the Jews have preserved however in modern English/Christian version they have the book of Lam. before Hosea which will obviously cause them confussion in relating Hosea 2:11 to Lam 2:6) There was a time when the nation lpeople of Israel was caused to forget these moeds but it was restored unto them later)

Its important to remember that Israel observed Torah by the letter (physical and Spiritual). My primary focuss as a believer in The Mashiach is on the Spiritual. There are many rabbinical comentaries on the subject of what constitutes REST (shabbat) on Shabbat. Many traditions are embraced based on rabbinic interpretations. When i think of Shabbat i think of one Simple rule of thumb. Rest From YOUR aims. We are to Make time to be set apart from personal agendas and concerns of this world. Limiting anything that could hinder this for You is good.

Examples: *Buisness- whats the purpose of buisness its what makes us a comodity of our society. God is able to provide. Set time aside to find pleasure in YHVH *Appointments- when we fill up our time with running around & rushing do we have time to be zealous for God to seek out the things of God to take in creation?  *Chores- When you have rushed all week, or put off cleaning for a week should you fill the time you have set aside for Shabbat to do this? *Labor- When shabbat comes and your body has been pushed all week can you find peace and focuss on the ways of the Lord if you fill this time with hard labor (breaking a sweat) and perhaps pushing your body into a condition where it requires Rest Later and needs to be cleansed?

I believe that much of this depends on the individual and circumstance. One who prepares for Shabbat prior to Shabbat is in many ways showing that they in fact Observe Shabbat and put The LORD 1st in their lives Over concerns of this world. These preperations may involve getting cooking, cleaning, labor, and chores all out of the way prior to the sabbath so they arent even distant concerns.

We can see how some of the prior examples Can be done (without personal agenda) and yet Shabbat still observed.

Examples: If (God forbid) some medical emergancy happened to you wouldnt you want a doctor the EMS to (work) respond, and the Hosptial (staff working)open? (Appointments/ and buisness). Interestingly enough these buisnesses seem to revolve around serving other more than yourself!

Yeshua being Messiah (Lord of the Sabbath) he brought up the point that the chore of taking your ox or donkey to water on Shabbat was not seen as breaking Sabbath Lk.13:15-17. This is cause its not you and your aims being served its God's creation being cared for! To Rest is to be free of bondage and Messiah was able to HEAL! people on Shabbat! I would think only a dark spirit would make the accusation that this is breaking Shabbat.

Mk.2:27 "And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath", but those who would condemn Christ for healing on shabbat are denying the people rest.

Healing on Shabbat:

Lk.13:14-16 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Lk.14:3-6 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

4 And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

6 And they could not answer him again to these things

Mk.3:1-6 And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.

2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.

3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him

Is.58:13-14

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Heb.4:10

(The priests of the temple were not to wear anying that would cause them to sweat while doing the service of the Lord Eze.44:18)

Hebrews 4:10 (KJV)
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his.

Revelation 14:13 (KJV)
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

I embrace PASSOVER / Pesach (Lev.23:5/ Num.28:16/ Ex.12:2/ Ester 3:7/ Nisan/ Abib/ Aviv) a High Holy Day as it is mentioned and how it and the feast of unleaven bread relates to the way of Messiah. The first of the three pilgrimage festivals (Shlosha Regalim) of the year, in which God's people are called to gather together (Family/ congregation). I personally embrace taking communion (Spiritual and physical) at this time, along with feeding my spirit with the Word. Yeshua (Jesus) is the fulfillment of the Passover/blood/ sacrifice/ Christ became our Passover- (sacrifice) -1 Cor. 5:6-7, Heb.2:14, Tim. 2:6,Col. 2:16-17, Heb. 10:10-12/16-18, Ps.22 /

Notes:

Seems these days everyone uses a different calendar system and there remains debates on the details on what were the true standards of the calendar of ancient Israel vs. changes by religious leaders. This conflict dates back to the roots of modern day sects of both Judaism and Christianity which split from each other within the people of Israel:

Wikipedia- " For centuries, the traditional understanding has been that Judaism came before Christianity and that Christianity separated from Judaism some time after the destruction of the Second Temple. Recently, scholars have begun to believe that the historical picture is quite a bit more complicated than that. In the 1st century, many Jewish sects existed in competition with each other; see Second Temple Judaism. The sects which eventually became Rabbinic Judaism and Proto-orthodox Christianity were but two of these. Some scholars have begun to propose a model which envisions a twin birth of Proto-Orthodox Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism rather than a separation of the former from the latter. For example, Robert Goldenberg asserts that it is increasingly accepted among scholars that "at the end of the 1st century CE there were not yet two separate religions called 'Judaism' and 'Christianity'".

The culture was ravaged by invaders and Even the Hebrew it's self was recreated. With such extreme changes much leaven crept in to fundamental/foundational standards. Within the sects of Judaism we still see on conflict that was between Sadducees and Pharisees when it comes to the observance of Pesach.

Not only do we have differences within the Jewish community, many Christians continue to be being  drawn to Passover and some of them have created even more ways of interpreting the set aside times. Following the intro of this blog it should be understood that Im not here to debate others on the differences of calendars. I do know many of the differences: Some choose to strictly go lunatic (Lunar:) while others strictly are into the solar interpretation. Anyone familure with the Biblical calendar knows its not spacifically lunar or solar but rather a combination. Enoch's pillar also documents this. And its obvious in this age both Light and dark are a part of reality. Those that insist on not using the (new) moon in calulations tend to focuss on the Spiring equinox from which you count forward in days. If one doesnt make the Spring equinox the starting point some will look to the moon instead seeing as Nissan is the first month of The Jewish year and thus some would use the Rosh Codesh (1st sliver of moon/1st of the month/ "new moon") over the Spring equinox.

Lev.23:5 while months (moons) are mentioned here one needs to know the point of referance to start with. We are told the first mounth (lunar) of the year (solar). This is what sparks the contraversy. Thus strictly solar people (claiming to be children of the "light") make their strating point The Spiring Equinox. However strictly solar observances ignore alll areas in which scriptures points to moons in relation to set aside times (some Christians support doing this by pointing out that all prophacy in relation to HaSatan is given in mounths(moons) while all prophacy pertaining to the election is given in days/ Years which Is solar. (the moon disguising its self as a giver/ source of light when in fact it just reflects light 2 Cor.11:14-15)

The alignment of the sun from over the mount of olives, through the area of the eastern gate across the court, shines inbetween the pillars of the porch towards the alter. If this didnt take place the rabbi's would close the doors until the next day. This was to account for the leap year according to the solar spring equinox rather than going by moons (For more info click HERE).

The term "easter" is based off pagon rituals to the goddess Ishtar (fertility goddess) which according to pagons hatched from an egg (nature), and the pagon rituals included brothels in the woods (in the spring) which is captured in the symbolizim of rolling of eggs. No honest connection to the pagan rituals to that of Pesach even though they both overlap dates.  This is evident when you look up the term easter in most Historically correct Dictionaries and the one place "easter" crept into the English KJV (Acts 12:4) you can see the orginal term was PASCHA (#3957G) which means :

PASSOVER (Pesach) and can NOT honestly be translated or transliterated as "easter". Some say this was an attempt to draw pagons to Christ or pagan cultures combining traditions, whatever the thoughts on it, its an obvious perversion (mistranslation) of The Word and any perversion of The Truth (Pesach) is unacceptable method to draw people to light. Rabbits are symbols of fertility as well if u have ever heard the sayings "quick as a bunny" or "multiply as fast as rabbits".

Communion: The disciples didnt come together for the reason of eating yet as often as they came together (Shlosha Regalim) they broke bread and drank of the cup which pointed to Messiah (1 Cor.11). This practice would naturally consist of these three times each year.

Shlosha Regalim /3 pilgrimage festivals:

1) Pesach Passover (Again some go by solar and others lunar calendars. I personally use a combo of both/ The Biblical calendar!) Depending on what sect of Judaism or what state the nation is in observances can be 7-8 days not including preperation day. Also depending on who your speaking to its important to know their context. Some may refer to both Pesach and the feast of unleaven bread together with either or identification. The first and 7th days of the feast are shabbats. The 15th (of Nisan) is a high Holy day.
2) Shavuoth - Pentecost (50 days following Passover) According to Jewish law, Shavuot is celebrated in Israel for one day and in the Diaspora (outside of Israel) for two days.
3) Sukkot - Feast of Tabernacles (or called "Chag Ha' Asif" Thanksgiving for Harvest)/ Around the time of the year Christ was Born (2 Sabbaths, 1st and 8th day Lev.23:39)

Chol HaMoed

Those who understand the Word on the subject of the moeds have reason to observe them. Some have the Basics (of the Gospel) without walking in or understanding the moeds and how they relate to the Faith (and Messiah). Is it proper to judge them based on their knowledge of the set aside times Col.2:16-17/ Rom.14:5-6 ? Not only does the Word bring us these set aside times it tells us why and how people of the covenant are to observe them. According to tradition and Scripture, five important events occurred on Shavuot (Pentecost):1. Enoch was taken up into heaven.2. G-D made the Covenant with Noah.3. G-D made the Covenant with Abraham.4. The Torah was given.5. The Holy Spirit was given to the disciples and they became Apostels(Acts 2).

Pentecost stems from Passover. (count the omer)

 Leviticus 23:15,16

The American "Thanksgiving" has some comparisions to The Feast Of Tabernacles in that both are showing thanks for Harvest, gathering together, and deliverance. Sukkot observances point to the deliverance of Israel from the bondage of Egypt while dwelling with God. The Pilgrams were embracing deliverance from Europe and freedom to practice their faith. America's independance being documented in the same area of Dan which is the date of July 4th.

Sukkot (sukkah) is to mention booths (Temporary Dwellings) and is followed by Shmini Atzeret. This is the same time of year in which Yeshua was born (began to commune with man).
At this time Mary and Joseph were in the process of travel and had to quickly settle in a temporary dwelling, which is the observance Israel is commanded to embrace as the forshadow in which Yeshua came to dwell with man at The Same Time of the year! This one was known as Emmanuel by His People.

Matt.1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Jn.1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Hebrew # 2583 chanah - to pitch a tent, dwell, encamp, rest stop- prime root #2603 chanan /(bow, have mercy on, mericful, gracious,to show pity .....) from which comes :
Hebrew # 2580 Chen Can/ khane - grace, favour, well favored....
Heb.2:14/ Jn 3:16 - When we reverance YHVH and embrace his mercy through the Passover (Yeshua Christ), then we shall enter into rest (eturnal Peace).
YHWH speaks on all levels.

Hannakah (Feast of Dedication is mentioned in Jn.10:22) commemorates a particular Feast of Dedication and alone is not a biblical Holy day, just a traditional reminder. Many note that Hannakah is close to Dec 25th (ChristMas) which Is the date of Conception according to Lk 1-3 and is also extensively documented in science in the dvd "The Star Of Bethleham". The breath of Life is present at conception btw and John the Baptist is one who can bare witness of that even before he was born! Yeshua being the light of the World (Jn.1:4) and the Physical Temple of God in His Day, its interesting to note the menorah story of Hannakah (which showed God's Pleasure with the temple and priesthood of Israel) but also the menorah story of yoma 39 of the Talmud (which showed God's Displeasure with the temple and preisthood which started following the crusifixtion and leading all the way up to the destruction of the temple and priesthood in 70ad, according to the historical records of the priests of Israel!)

In the seventh (7= Spiritual completeness) month, on the first (1= Unity) of the month (Rosh Chodesh or Rosh Hodesh), there shall be a sabbath for you, a remembrance with shofar blasts, a holy convocation. (Rosh Hashanah) Leviticus 23:24-25

(Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are the 10 days of repentance)

Leviticus 16:29-30 In the seventh (7= spiritual completeness) month, on the tenth (10= Testimony; Law and responsiblity) day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and you shall not do any work ... For on that day he shall provide atonement for you to cleanse you from all your sins before the LORD. ()

Leviticus 16:24

I see the Hebraic fasts as pleasing unto our LORD and would like to see more of this in the Christian body.

The "new moon" is what sets forth the beginning of a month in the Hebraic calendar. Leviticus 23:34 On the fifteenth day (15= Rest) of this seventh (7= spiritual completeness)month is the Festival of Sukkot (dwelling/ Emmanuel), seven days for the LORD (Sukkot/ Dwelling) Sabbath/rest and spiritual completeness are within the numbers of the solar days of sukkot and again spiritual completeness also within the lunar portion of sukkot!

some extras:

The Jewish calendar is actually a combination of various forms of calendars (Months are either 29 or 30 days, corresponding to the 29½-day lunar cycle. Years are either 12 or 13 months, corresponding to the 12.4 month solar cycle. MORE/ and More)

(3 days between Yom Kippur and Sukkot?)

HERE is a converter from a "Chapel" student if interested in a strictly "solar" calendar. I will point out that the claim was made that the Hebrew/ "Jewish" calendar doesn't keep the same date every year for observances. This couldn't be further from the truth. The date is the same according to the Jewish calendar (according to its order) and the marks the Word provides, its not the same date every year only when you try to compare your calendar to it. Then its not the same as it would be according to your calendar (and markings) overlaid on it. Both calendars have an order that allows for leap years and decimals, both are calendars of order that repeat their order. To each his own and we should be able to follow and know what calendars we choose to go by. Both have qualified marking points of measure. While i have no issues of which calendar to use personally, i personally don't use the chapel one (strictly solar) though i love to study and fellowship with the chapel. I still look into & follow it to see how it Interacts with The calendar i do go by. Since many chapel members often ask me what set aside time is when according to the chapel i dedicate this extra to you with love. Anyway just sharing info for those who want to observe set aside times as S.C.N. does, and may your observations and studies be blessed (with Discernment).

The Sages comment on these verses: “If the Jewish people keep two Shabbatot properly, they will immediately be redeemed, as it says: ‘As for the eunuchs who keep My Shabbatot…I will bring them to My sacred mount’” (Shabbat 118b).

Shabbat reminder of the Exodus

Shlosha Regalim (3 pilgrimage festivals mentioned above)- Deut.16:16  & Ex.23:15-17

When we apply this to the Lord's table (communion ) many keep this observance (me) and consider this to be a Major thing that the anti will seek to cause to become desolate (abomination of desolation) and cease (daily oblation) when he call the people unto himself when in kingdom of God is already in their midsts. As often as you come together (partake) do this in rememberance of me. the Jewish disciples were in practice of observing holy feasts at these 3 times (Shlosha Regalim). At this time they were to strive to embrace fellowship and gather together, Going to Jerusalem was Strongly suggested during the days of the temple.

Today many Messianics and Christians choose to partake of the Bread and wine at this time but know that one shouldnt do this unworthily (without repentance) or they would be doing it onto their damnation.
