The Gemara and the Mishnah together make up the Talmud. The Talmud thus comprises two components: the Mishnah – the core text; and the Gemara – analysis and commentary which "completes" the Talmud (see Structure of the Talmud).

The rabbis of the Mishnah are known as Tannaim (sing. Tanna תנא‬). The rabbis of the Gemara are referred to as Amoraim (sing. Amora אמורא).

Because there are two Gemaras, there are in fact two Talmuds: the Jerusalem Talmud (Hebrew: תלמוד ירושלמי‬, "Talmud Yerushalmi"), and the Babylonian Talmud (Hebrew: תלמוד בבלי‬, "Talmud Bavli"), corresponding to the Jerusalem Gemara and the Babylonian Gemara; both share the same Mishnah. The Gemara is mostly written in Aramaic, the Jerusalem Gemara in Western Aramaic and the Babylonian in Eastern Aramaic, but both contain portions in Hebrew. Sometimes the language changes in the middle of a story

Peshitta- The Peshitta is the standard version of the Bible for churches in the Syriac tradition. NT of the Peshitta was translated from the Greek, probably in the early 5th century.

Vulgate - the principal Latin version of the Bible, prepared mainly by St. Jerome in the late 4th century, and (as revised in 1592) adopted as the official text for the Roman Catholic Church.

Hebrew is called lashon ha'kodesh (The Holy Language). Papias - disciple of John proclaims Matt. collected the words in the Hebrew language (book of Matthew preserved in Hebrew). Acts 26:13-14 "Hebrew" not Aramaic (as suggested with NIV) the Greek is "Hebraidi". (Shem Tov's) Matt.27:46 "Yeshua cried with a loud voice, saying in the holy language, Eli, Eli Lama 'azavtani?" ( Ivrit) Shem Tov's Hebrew Matthew is obviously in Hebrew (and is considered a Hebrew manuscript of Matt.) directly quotes Ps.22:1 in Hebrew Not Aramaic Thus there is (biblical) reason to say the "Holy Language" is in fact Hebrew and not Aramaic! Hebrew is the language of Israel (- The Hebrews, though Aramaic and Greek were prevalent too) and Israel is the light unto the nations. Israel brought the Word to the nations. Moses relayed the Word in Hebrew. There are portions of the Tanakh that were given in Aramaic example Dan.2-7 where much of the speech is that of the Chaldeans as well as mention of Babylon. Who is being spoken to /in what language did the prophets speak/ hear/ teach? Deut.18:1830:14Ex.4:15;13:9Num.12:8.... 1611 Old English translation KJV intro constantly encourages relating back to the original languages and sources that the translators did the best they could. Showing that there remains the upmost importance on the Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic( Syriac / Chaldee).

Historical violence can’t be attributed to Christianity

The crusades were defensive and many crusaders had no faith in Christ or the Bible. Many were actually prisoners who earned their freedom through service. The knights Templar were even killed by the Catholic “Church”.  The catholic “church” and Rome are long enemies of Christianity. they killed Christ, killed Christians, hijacked Christianity, and even changed scripture, and mixed christian ideals with paganism, polytheism and every other theology embrace by Rome.Catholic even means universal. Anyone who wants to criticize any religion should learn to use the sources of that religion to do so otherwise one is just entertaining seductive and deceitful spirits and has no light

Comment by William H. on March 19, 2018 at 6:52am

It's the same books but arranged differently.

In the Old Testament they are arranged into 39 books.

In the Tanakh the same books are arranged into 22 books.

The OT starts with Genesis and ends with Malachi.

The Tanakh starts with Genesis and ends with 2 Chronicles.

Sometimes the verses are numbered differently. For instance Malachi 4:5 in the Old Testament is Malachi 3:22 in the Tanakh.

66 books of the Protestant Bible, or 72 for the Catholics, or even 80 for the original King James Version compilers of 1611
