I tend to see fruitless debate as two sides that want to be heard but refuse to listen, rooted around persuasion. Man can justify and rationalize anything within his own mind.

Tit.3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

I suggest we not entertain fruitless debates but rather study to show ourselves approved!

2 Jn.1:10-11 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

(Don't enable or support such/ guilt by association)

2 Tim.2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2 Tim.2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

Prov.17:14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

("contention"- reeb- a contest (personal or legal): - + adversary, cause, chiding, contend (-tion), controversy, multitude [from the margin], pleading, strife, strive (-ing), suit.

/1 Tim.6:4/ Jas.3:14-16/ Gal.5:19-21/ 1 Cor.3:3/ 2 Cor.12:19-20/ Prov.26:20/

Phi.2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves ("vainglory" - kenodoxia- empty glorying, that is, self conceit: - vain-glory.)

Col.4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

We are also warned against overloading others when it comes to ministry Lk.6:29.

* Remember fishers of men look for interest. The sinners Christ had company with were interested in The WORD. We are Not called to fellowship with nor entertain those who mock God's WORD, so often times separation is an option before rebuke (thus we are given the gift of spiritual discernment).

One sent of God (instruments of The Judge /Elohim) is concerned for all, and they give glory to YHVH. You can sow a seed as an instrument of God but God gives the increase. Judgement is according to The LORD and his will. We are not called to judge by our own accord as to say one is hopeless of salvation (Matt.5:22), our job is the opposite. Spiritual Isreal is called to bring forth God's WORD to the nations and to serve as an example of how to have a relationship with The LORD. (Today this calls for us to stress the importance of Repentance and embraceing a ongoing relationship with The LORD according to his will- By Grace through Faith)

Jn.6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Don’t argue with a fool Pro.26:4-14 ; 29:9-11

he will have no contentment: Whether he shows him an angry countenance or he shows him a laughing countenance, there is no contentment either in this or in that. He finds no satisfaction. We find in the case of Amaziah that the Holy One, blessed be He, showed him a laughing countenance and delivered Edom into his hands, and when he returned from defeating them, (11 Chron 25: 14) “he brought their (sic) gods, etc. and prostrated himself before them.” To Ahaz, the Holy One, blessed be He, showed an angry countenance and delivered him into the hands of the kings of Aram (ibid. 28:23): “And he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, etc. for he said, ‘The gods of Aram are helping them.’”

Titus 1

This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

Many scratch their heads when they read Matt 4 where the wicked one has relations with Yeshua.

”5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.”

As one atheist tried to tell me:  The devil TOOK Jesus and MADE HIM stand..

Fact is such people debate their ignoranve and never allow for the texts to speak to speak in context.

“Taketh” Greek paralambano 1) to take to, to take with one's self, to join to one's self
1a) an associate, a companion
1b) metaph.
1b1) to accept or acknowledge one to be such as he professes to be
1b2) not to reject, not to withhold obedience
2) to receive something transmitted
2a) an office to be discharged
2b) to receive with the mind
2b1) by oral transmission: of the authors from whom the tradition proceeds
2b2) by the narrating to others, by instruction of teachers (used of disciples)

Setteth  him on a pinnacle of the temple - just means that he regarded him in high esteem (in his position as “Son of G-d”)
“setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

Jn.17 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.....

The wicked one was reasoning With Messiah or better yet trying to play the companion while attempting to deceive him and lead him astray. Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?....

Paul debates Acts 17:17  Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

Chavrusa in Yeshivas can help in maturity and understanding in respectful fellowship.

Man Can justify anything within his own mind (Prov.1:7; 3:1,5,7; 18:2,12/ Luke 10:25-37Rom. 11:25John 8:47Col. 2:23/ Jas.1:22/ ....) Pro.18:2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, But that his heart may discover itself.

Pro.3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding

Rom.11:25a For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits

Col.2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh

Gal.5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Pro.14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Pro.1:7 The fear of the Lordis the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.....

Rom.10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
