Ps.2:6-7

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. / Messiah mentioned in vs.2! (Ex.4:21,22,23/ Hosea 11:1)

Here we have the LORD speaking through David. David is the physical king of Israel /1 Chronicles 11:1/ 2 Sam.5), David is being used to "declare the decree".. Israel is the son of God (represented in King Messiah and King David). While every mention of "Servant" in Isaiah can be related to Israel (The nation) or Jacob, in a Hebraic context we have the Word "servant" also relate to (examples): David (Is.37:35), Isaiah (Is.20:3), Messiah (42:1; 65:8)

Ex.4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

Kingdom (Israel)- consists of a king and his dominion.

Israel has been given foreshadows throughout the Word to observe. King David spoke of the authority of Mashiach (Messiah). Messiah is The King that will issue in The Kingdom of YHVH.

Matt.22:41-46

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. (Mk.12:36/ Lk.20:42-43/ Acts 2:29,30,34/ Acts 13:33/ Ps.110:1)

Messiah is called the only (Unique) begotten son of GOD. How do we apply this to Israel being the son of God? Mashiach is The King of the dominion which is Israel. They are echad (H#259 /unified One/ Gen.2:24), for we are told messiah is the bridesgroom of Israel. Thus when Israel was called Begotten son this Included Mashiach. To say "Begotten" (yalad) son (Ben) of G-d is to say raised up messenger. Son in its most general (metaphoric (spiritual) sense is to say one who carries the Shem (name and character) of another. However Israel as a whole strayed and fell into idolatry and its said that G-D even wrote her a bill of divorce. As a whole they were no longer carring the Shem of G-D. Thus Israel had need of a redeemer. One in transgression cant be their own redeemer they have need of one without blemish. This one came from Israel and was Yahshua. Thus at that time he was the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON in that he never sinned and thus was the only one who ALWAYS carried the shem of G-D.

Where Israel broke the coveneant Messiah fulfilled it! Messiah is the resTORAHation of Israel. This is evident when the Law (Torah) gives the judgement (effect) of (spiritual) adultry/ Lev.20:10(idolatry). Spiritual Adultry (Idolatry) of:

Israel \Jer.3:8 (divorce)/ (Hosea 4-8) Hosea 4:12-19 (15)/

Judah

Jer.3:8, Jer.5, Jer.10, Jer.16, Jer.17

Only the death of the mate could free one from the vow made with The Lord (Heb.9:16-17). Messiah died so that Israel could be free from thier transgression (and thus be restored to God's grace). The wage of sin is death thus Messiah (King of Israel) fulfills the Passover sacrifice (1 Cor.5:6-8).

Many that seem to only think literally may struggle with the concept of Messiah being the only begotten son when Israel is mentioned as the son of God as well (even with the documentation that they are One (echad).

"Begotten" is NOT limited to the context of Physical offspring of physical relations (sex). No where in scripture where it says begotten son of G-D or just son of G-D is it EVER speaking in the physical literal concept.

When used in the figurative the word *yalad (H#3205) means to raise up, bring forth, produce (create), or *resurrect. This use of the literal is called Anthropopatheia

(compare to Acts 13:33/ Ps.2:6-7/ Rom.1:3,4/ Col.1:18/ Rev.1:5....)/ (II Sam. 7:14/ Ps. 89:27)

Only The Figurative/ Spiritual sense can apply to such areas as Ps.2:7 (Num.11:12/ Deut.32:18/).

Isreal was born that day but not in the sense that it came forth from a womans womb. Everyone knows the nation of Israel isnt physical offspring of G-d having physical sex except maybe muhammad which feels the need to call the following a revelation:

Quran 112:3 "allah begets not nor is he begotten"

__________

Yalad

A primitive root; to bear young; causatively to beget; medically to act as midwife; specifically to show lineage: - bear, beget, birth ([-day]), born, (make to) *bring *forth (children, young), *bring *up, calve, child, *come, *be delivered (of a child), time of delivery, gender, hatch, labour, (do the office of a) midwife, declare pedigrees, be the *son of, (woman in, woman that) travail (-eth, -ing woman).

Rashi on Ps.2:7 "'begotten you': to be called My son and to be beloved to Me as a son for their sake, as it is stated (II Sam. 7:14) concerning Solomon: “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to Me a son.” We find further concerning David (Ps. 89:27) “He shall call Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’”

*** Not only is it obvious that Israel wasn't a phy offspring of G-d having physical sex, but Yalad is also used to describe mountains Ps.90:2 and day Zeph.2:2 (Other obvious areas in which yalad is Not speaking of bringing forth physical children Job.15:35/ Ps.7:14; / Pro. 27:1/ Is.33:11; 55:10; 59:4/....)

Messiah Is Walking Torah/ Living Sacrifice. Torah is the foundation and it’s fulfilled in Moshiach for his position is at The Right Hand of Yah.

Son is the Hebrew:

Ben H# 1121

From H1129; a son (as builder of the family name /Character), in the widest sense (of literal and figurative relationship, including grandson, subject, nation, quality or condition, etc., (like H1,H251, etc.): - + afflicted, age, [Ahoh-] [Ammon-] [Hachmon-] [Lev-]ite, [anoint-]ed one, appointed to, (+) arrow, [Assyr-] [Babylon-] [Egypt-] [Grec-]ian, one born, bough, branch, breed, + (young) bullock, + (young) calf, X came up in, child, colt, X common, X corn, daughter, X of first, + firstborn, foal, + very fruitful, + postage, X in, + kid, + lamb, (+) man, meet, + mighty, + nephew, old, (+) people, + rebel, + robber, X servant born, X soldier, son, + spark, + steward, + stranger, X surely, them of, + tumultuous one, + valiant[-est], whelp, worthy, young (one), youth
A Son (Ben) is one who carries the character (Name) of His Father. Basically one who submits to his will. We see this in the Greek as well! "Teknon"Greek #5043 offspring, children

  • child
  • a male child, a son
    1. the name transferred to that intimate and reciprocal relationship formed between men by the bonds of love, friendship, trust, just as between parents and children
    2. in affectionate address, such as patrons, helpers, teachers and the like employ: my child
    3. in the NT, pupils or disciples are called children of their teachers, because the latter by their instruction nourish the minds of their pupils and mould their characters
    4. children of God: in the OT of "the people of Israel" as especially dear to God, in the NT, in Paul's writings, all who are led by the Spirit of God and thus closely related to Godmetaph.

Acts 3:26 (Kjv- son/ Nkjv- servant)

- "paheece" #3816-

a boy (as often beaten with impunity), or (by analogy) a girl, and (generally) a child; specifically a slave or servant (especially a minister to a king; and by eminence to God): - child, maid (-en), (man) servant, son, young man.

It's in Messiah that the character of Israel (Prince of God/inheritance) is established.

Rom.8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God

Throughout the Word we are given examples of acknowledgement of one ("first born") son when we know there is (a prior 1st born) more than one physical son. In each of these examples the one not *acknowledged has been sent away and a seperation been made. Remember now that ben (son) is to say one that carries the name/character of the father.
Father has to Acknowledge!- Deut.21:17

Cain & Able (twins)

Cain did not honor his relations with YHVH. Cain's fruits reflected his pride and selfishness. When it came time for harvest of fruits Cain did not receive a blessing cause he did not bless The Father (YHVH)/ Gen.4:5,7/, and was sent away from his presence (Gen.4:16)

Cain was not acknowledged as the inheritor of Adam, rather only acknowledged as the individual who slew Able when Adam's line of inheritance was listed in Gen.4:24- Gen.5:32 (* Gen.5:4)

Isaac & Ishmael

Ishmael is obviously mentioned as a physical son of Abram. Abram was later called Abraham and received a seed of promise from the LORD Isaac. Sarah had Abraham send Ishmael and his mother (Hagar) away. This cut out any inheritance Ishmael would have claimed from Abraham according to the promise that was in Isaac (Gen.17:15-21). (Ishmael was blessed and said to be considered a wild man whose hand would be against every man and every man's hand against him/ These are not attributes needed for the blessing and promise passed to Isaac and Israel) Ishmael born to Abram Not Abraham (Gen.16:16) Abram's name (shem) was changed after the birth of Ishmael.

Heb.11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son

_______________

Within the culture of Israel the firstborn was to receive the inheritance, yet in these examples this isnt the case. We have another example of this as well.

Jacob (Israel) & Esau (twins)

Gen.25:23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. (Rom.9:12)

Esau like Cain was more interested in his earthly pleasures than in pleasing the Father YHVH. This was evident when he sold his birth right to Jacob. Jacob recieved the inheritance of the first born as The prophacy had proclaimed. When one refuses to acknowledge YHVH he has no reason to acknowledge them either when it comes to his blessings. Afterall we are created for his pleasure (Rev.4:11), therefore its important to take notice if we are in fact pleaseing The Father. Matt.20:16

---------Those in covenant are sons of God----------

Jn.1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

1 Jn.2:28-29;3:1 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him./ 31 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. (Gal.3:26-29)

Bənē hāʾĔlōhīm Son of The Elohim (Elohinu)

If Yeshua (Jesus) was born of a literal “virgin” (thus no phy. father) then logically who would be his Father? Her fathers fathers fathers fathers met the line of Moshiach and is the only tribal identification through the Y Chromosome zera (seed) of the male which is required for Tribal identification. THE “seed” of the woman (Gen. 3:15) from Eve to Mary. Torah never required it come to Mary by physical sex only that the zera be present. Yoseph his father in law also met the line.

Vayikra (Lev.) 16:31-32 “to serve in his father’s stead”: This teaches us that if his son can take his place [meaning that he is his equal], he takes precedence over everyone else. — [Torath Kohanim 16:80]

We don’t pick the first born, we don’t choose who is born in the midst. Yeshua was of the qualified seed. No case can be made against him with Torah?

"The firstborn son in patriarchal society was regarded as special ( Gen 49:3 ; Exod 13:2 ). He became the head of the family upon his father's death, having received his father's blessing ( Gen 27 ) and a double portion of the inheritance ( Deut 21:17 )." - B Dictionary

Begotten son of G-D means - Raised up messenger of G-D Simple as that When Applied.

Comment by William H. on January 25, 2018 at 8:10am

G-D referred to as Father (Avinu, Abba) in Tanakh. Example who is the "Everlasting Father" Is.9:6/ Throughout the Bible we find God portrayed as a Father. This portrayal, however, is surprisingly rare in the Old Testament. There God is specifically called the Father of the nation of Israel ( Deut 32:6 ; Isa 63:16 ; [twice] 64:8 ; Jeremiah 3:4 Jeremiah 3:19 ; 31:9 ; Mal 1:6 ; 2:10 ) or the Father of certain individuals ( 2 Sam 7:14 ; 1 Chron 17:13 ; 22:10 ; 28:6 ; Psalm 68:5 ; 89:26 ) only fifteen times. (At times the father imagery is present although the term "Father" is not used [ Exod 4:22-23 ; Deut 1:31 ; 8:5 ; 14:1 ; Psalm 103:13 ; Jer 3:22 ; 31:20 ; Hosea 11:1-4 ; Mal 3:17 ])." ....Psalm 82:6
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

Adam is called "Son of G-d" in Lk.3:38 cause he was directly created By G-d and had no parents (like angels). Different concept that carrying the Shem of G-d thuss "son of G-d" (even though Adam was given dominion and named all beasts of the field).

Comment by William H. on July 17, 2016 at 1:40pm

In the Old Testament, angels, just and pious men, the descendants of Seth, and the kings of Israel are all called "sons of God."[2] In the New Testament, Adam,[3] and, most notably,Jesus Christ[2] are called "son of God," while followers of Jesus are called, "sons of God."[4]- wikipedia
