Finding Harmony In The Word

The Tanya

Since this group is one for networking and fellowship studies I would like to invite others to a group I recently joined that was formed to consider The Tanya. The (facebook) group is called "Lessons in Tanya". Its a book of traditions and understandings of men. I am not asserting that this source is equal to Scripture in authority or in any way.

For those interested, we dont have to agree with everything stated in the Tanya. I just finished with chapter 1 so I am rather New to even reading the Tanya. In the video documentary (by James Trimm) Its even stated that digest what you can and don't digest what you choose not to (in other words).

Guess i will post intro to Chapter one and chapter one here so you can decide weather or not this is a group you want to join and fellowship in. Also Feel free to discuss!

"Be Righteous not wicked. If the whole world tells you you are righteous regard yourself as if you were wicked"

This reminds me of something one of my elders often said. Be cautious of those who constantly flatter you. The statement seems to tell us to strive to be righteous but never stop striving as if you have no room to grow. Dont allow others to drag you into contentment when you have a real zeal for growth. Thus I wouldn't have noticed the apparent contradiction of the Mishna "Be not wicked in your own estimation" cause of the first portion of the prior quote.

The Almighty is The All Knowing One. We have all fallen short of the Glory of G-D. Its by His righteousness that we are Saved. He always provides what is needed. He provides Torah by which comes the knowledge of sin. He is the one who provides the sacrifice (atonements) that we by faith can make and embrace. Fear (reverance- love & fear- upmost respect) is the beginning of knowledge. This grows into an ongoing, loving relationship.

Its when we do Teshuvah, have (fruitful) faith and trust in The LORD (in an ongoing relationship) that we are fulfilled. Abraham's faith was counted unto him as righteousness. All have fallen short of the Glory of G-D. Its only by the righteousness of Yeshua that I fulfill The Torah of Yah. Without Atonement(s) I would be lost. Pride is a big downfall and perhaps present in all sin.

I was also interested in the comments of how light is found within shells of darkness. Seems it was said that Israel has a thin shell (of darkness) and within in it Much light and some others have no light in them. For those who dont seek truth or G-d it seems they have no light in them. I just wanted to mention an area of the "NT" I relate to our enemies that are in our midst (tares) and how it seems they try to present themselves as vessels of light when they have none. 2 Cor.11:13-15 " For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming(disguising) themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed (disguised) into an angel of light.Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed (disguised /Greek #3345) as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

Seems we (some) seek (Spiritual) light in the (Physical) darkness within this physical realm (valley of the shadow of death) and yet to our carnality darkness can portray its self as light and light as darkness (Is.5:20). The flesh seems to have its own false appetite that never gets fulfilled when it comes to lust but when it comes to seeking G-d the more you walk with him the more you grow!
