Machpelah is the most anicent site of Judaism and the 2nd most holy. It was a place of Great passion for Abraham. Abraham was so drawn to this location that he purchased it for his resting place Gen.23:2-16 . It became the resting place for Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah (Rachel was buried near Bethleham)/ Gen.25:9

Jewish traditions state that Machpelah is the entrance to the Garden of Eden. (home of Adam and Eve/ They were sent out of the garden - Gen.3:23-24) Jewish tradtion also states that Both Adam and Eve were buried here as well!

 The Physical resting place for The Father of Many Nations and his beloved family who were given the inheritance of bringing forth The Word of The LORD and serveing The LORD as examples unto the nations of how to have a relationship with Our Spiritual Father. .

While islam claims Joseph is buried next to this location, Scripture say differently in the book of Joshua (Josh.24:32). However Jewish tradition says it was Joseph's wishes that he be placed at Hebron as well, which may have caused the muslim stance.

Josh.24:32- And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
