I tend to see fruitless debate as two sides that want to be heard but refuse to listen, rooted around persuasion. Man can justify and rationalize anything within his own mind.
Tit.3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
I suggest we not entertain fruitless debates but rather study to show ourselves approved!
2 Jn.1:10-11 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
(Don't enable or support such/ guilt by association)
2 Tim.2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2 Tim.2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Prov.17:14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
("contention"- reeb- a contest (personal or legal): - + adversary, cause, chiding, contend (-tion), controversy, multitude [from the margin], pleading, strife, strive (-ing), suit.

Phi.2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves ("vainglory" - kenodoxia- empty glorying, that is, self conceit: - vain-glory.)

Col.4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

We are also warned against overloading others when it comes to ministry Lk.6:29.
* Remember fishers of men look for interest. The sinners Christ had company with were interested in The WORD. We are Not called to fellowship with nor entertain those who mock God's WORD, so often times separation is an option before rebuke (thus we are given the gift of spiritual discernment).

One sent of God (instruments of The Judge /Elohim) is concerned for all, and they give glory to YHVH. You can sow a seed as an instrument of God but God gives the increase. Judgement is according to The LORD and his will. We are not called to judge by our own accord as to say one is hopeless of salvation (Matt.5:22), our job is the opposite. Spiritual Isreal is called to bring forth God's WORD to the nations and to serve as an example of how to have a relationship with The LORD. (Today this calls for us to stress the importance of Repentance and embraceing a ongoing relationship with The LORD according to his will- By Grace through Faith)
Jn.6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
(scornful- loots-A primitive root; properly to make mouths at, that is, to scoff; hence (from the effort to pronounce a foreign language) to interpret, or (generally) intercede: - ambassador, have in derision, interpreter, make a mock, mocker, scorn (-er, -ful), teacher.)
Titus 2
11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Titus 3
1Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
10A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
Wisdom speaking: Proverbs 9:4-10 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. "http://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/307625212?profile=original" Is.55:6-11 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Overloading anothers donkey isnt a good idea if you are interested in sowing a seed. It can cause salt to loose its savour. Matt.5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
